Barbara's approach

Barbara Aufgang,

RP (Qualifying)

MA (Candidate)

Each of our sessions together will be adapted with your personal needs in mind. We will explore new ways to approach life changes and losses like divorce, grief,  job loss, or any difficult life transition you are facing. Together we will discover ways to address your fears and discomfort with new beginnings by identifying your strengths, values, and meaning. Therapy can help you cope and build the best future possible.  I look forward to meeting you soon.

about Barbara

Life has a way of throwing us curveballs that can be overwhelming. I have been through many transitions and challenges such as separation, career change and caring for family members with mental and physical health concerns. These events were terribly stressful and sometimes I wasn’t sure I was going to survive. However, these challenges were actually opportunities for personal growth. Through caring for my family members, I learned about my personal coping skills and saw strengths I didn’t know I had. My separation provided me with an opportunity to learn about who I really am, as opposed to who I think I should be.

I have been working as an employment counsellor for four years with newcomers building a life in Canada, students transitioning to the world of work and mature workers trying to regain their self-confidence and reinvent their careers. I believe that everyone has the ability to handle difficult situations but sometimes we are so overwhelmed we forget to draw on our own strengths. While life can sometimes bring us down, we all have it in us not only to survive but to flourish as a result of these obstacles.
