about Janice

Janice Clarke, MA, Clinical Director

Registered Psychotherapist

I am no stranger to life’s difficult transitions. As a teenager, I experienced the profound loss of my mother, and as an adult, I faced the pain of divorce. Yet, I believe that while loss and change shape us, they do not define us. Instead, they can become catalysts for resilience, self-discovery, and growth.

Parenting my two daughters has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. My work as a therapist—walking alongside others in their own journeys—has also been deeply fulfilling. Yet, as my children step into their own futures, I find myself navigating the bittersweet transition into an empty nest, a stage that stirs both joy and longing. Each transition has been a reminder that meaning is not something we find once and for all, but something we continually create.

Therapy offers a unique space for this kind of exploration. The bond between therapist and client is one of the most powerful aspects of healing, providing a safe, supportive relationship unlike any other. In this space, you are met with presence, understanding, and an objective perspective that allows you to process life’s challenges in ways friends and family cannot always provide.

I would be honored to walk with you as you navigate your own path forward.

Janice's approach

Existential therapy is a deeply reflective process that explores how meaning, purpose, and personal values shape your well-being. Life is full of contradictions—we often feel pulled between what we think, feel, and do. My approach integrates existential therapy with Emotionally Focused Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, ACT, CBT, Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness, tailoring our work to meet your unique needs.

Difficult life transitions—such as divorce, the loss of a loved one, or other major shifts—can shake your sense of identity and purpose. Existential therapy provides a space to examine your core beliefs, reassess what truly matters, and reconnect with a sense of direction. It’s not about finding a single, fixed meaning but about continually creating and recreating meaning as you move through different stages of life.

As your therapist, I walk alongside you as a fellow traveler. We are wired for connection, and part of our work together is to foster experiences of presence, authenticity, and belonging. In this space, you are invited to engage deeply with your life—embracing uncertainty, honoring your emotions, and moving toward a way of being that feels true to you.
