about Janice
Janice Clarke, MA, Clinical Director
Registered Psychotherapist
I am not a stranger to facing difficult life transitions. As a teenager, I suffered the loss of my mother and as an adult, the pain of divorce. It is important to remember that these transitions are not what defines us but can become a catalyst for personal resilience and growth.
I have found significant meaning in parenting my two daughters. My daily work as a therapist, helping people in our community, is also very rewarding. However, as my young adult children move forward in life I experience both feelings of delight and sadness as I transition into the empty nest stage of life. Each life transition has challenged my own search for meaning and purpose.
One of the benefits of therapy is the bond that occurs between therapist and client. The strength of this bond will directly reflect in your progress and healing during therapy. When you find the right therapist and develop a trusting connection, it gives you a safe place and an objective perspective that differs from your relationship with friends and family. I look forward to the opportunity to become your therapist.

Janice's approach
Existential therapy is a talk therapy that acknowledges how meaning and purpose impact a sense of well-being. Existential psychotherapy is dynamic because humans often experience conflicting forces between how they feel, think, and behave. I integrate existential techniques with other approaches including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, ACT, CBT, Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness.
Existential therapy can provide a clearer internal sense of how to live based on what is most meaningful to you. When you face difficult life transitions, such as divorce and separation or death of a loved one, your sense of self and meaning can be impacted and challenged. Existential therapy involves examining your core beliefs, perspectives, and values.
The meaning you derive at each stage of your life is continually being recreated. As your therapist I will be your fellow traveller. Humans are wired to seek and live connected to important others. Part of our work together will be to create life-enhancing experiences of inclusion, presence, authenticity, and belonging.
